MTSU STAFF MEMBER GARNERS INROADS INC. HONOR AT 2007 CEREMONY
NPA’s Rollins Named ‘Business Advisor of the Year’ at 29th Annual Event

(MURFREESBORO)—Lisa L. Rollins, director of special media projects for the Office of News and Public Affairs (NPA) at MTSU, was presented with the 2007 “Business Advisor of the Year” honor during INROADS 29th Anniversary Awards Reception & Ceremony held July 31 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville.
Founded in Chicago by the late Frank C. Carr, INROADS is nonprofit organization that trains and develops talented minority youth for community leadership and professional careers in business and industry. The international organization currently has more than 50 offices serving more than 5,000 college interns at 600-plus companies.
Rollins was nominated for the award by Rometrius North, an INROADS intern in the NPA office and mass communication major. North and Latreace Sankey, INROADS client manager for the Southeast Region, presented the honor at the evening event.
During the July 21 presentation, with its “Leadership: My Choice, My Future” theme, North described her experience with Rollins by crediting her with helping the intern develop and cultivate her writing craft, recognizing and addressing the student’s learning style, and providing feedback in a non-threatening and informative way.
“She is a great teacher, mentor and person in general,” North said of Rollins, who also serves as an adjunct professor for MTSU’s School of Journalism faculty.
