MTSU’S MORGAN RECEIVES FELLOWSHIP INDUCTION IN NATIONAL ACADEMY
Local Professor One of Only 450 to be Chosen for AAKPE Fellowship Since 1926

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.)—Don W. Morgan, professor of health and human performance at MTSU, was one of nine who were chosen for fellowship induction into the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education (AAKPE) on Sept. 29 during the academy’s 77th Annual Meeting at the DeSoto Hilton in Savannah, Ga.
A member of MTSU’s faculty since 2004, Morgan received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and his master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before earning his Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
To be elected into membership, individuals must be nominated by a current member of the AAKPE and must be currently engaged in professional or scientific work in kinesiology or physical education and have demonstrated competence in this discipline over a period of at least 10 years, with significant contributions to scholarly and professional literature, leadership activities in professional associations and learned societies.
Since its inception in 1926, 450 individuals nationwide have been inducted into the academy, which is based in Champaign, Ill. The organization was established in 1926 to recognize outstanding scholars in the study of physical activity.
