MTSU ACCOUNTING ALUMNI APPRECIATION DAY SET FOR APRIL 30

MURFREESBORO—The 18th annual Accounting Alumni Appreciation Day at Middle Tennessee State University will be held Thursday, April 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., in the State Farm Lecture Hall of the Business and Aerospace Building.
The event is targeted to those interested in accounting, auditing, taxation, and computer training. The fee will be $100 for MTSU alumni and $135 for all others interested. Net proceeds will be earmarked for accounting scholarships. Lunch will be provided.
Participants will earn eight hours of CPE credit and have the opportunity to visit with alumni and former professors and see how the campus configuration is changing.
Alicia Posta, executive director of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, will open the conference with a session on International Financial Reporting Standards. MTSU's Bill Mooningham and Dr. Tammy Bahmanziari, accounting professors, will present concurrent sessions on risk assessment standards and XBRL.
Additional break-out sessions and leaders will include:

-John Colwell and Daniel Watson, Crowe Horwath, LLP-tax update
-Dr. Paula Thomas, MTSU professor of accounting, AICPA update;
-Rick Murray, CFO of Commerce Union Bank, information technology;
-Dr. Larry Farmer, MTSU professor of accounting, FASB update;
-Dr. Pat Wall, MTSU assistant professor of business law, employment law update;
-Drs. Dwayne McSwain, MTSU assistant professor of accounting, and G. Robert Smith, MTSU associate professor of accounting, GASB update.
