APRIL 21 BCBST MARTIN CHAIR OF INSURANCE GOLF
TOURNEY SEEKS PLAYERS, RAISES FUNDS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

(MURFREESBORO) — Openings remain for players to participate in the 25th annual BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Martin Chair of Insurance Invitational Scramble Golf Tournament.
The event will be held Tuesday, April 21, at Champions Run Golf Course, a 6,600-yard, 18-hole, par-72 course in Rockvale.
The purpose of the tournament is to help raise funds for MTSU students in the Martin Chair of Insurance program and to promote interest in the insurance program, said Jim Cavendish, Insurance Liaison Committee chair.
The entry fee is $150 per player or $900 for six-player teams or $1,050 for a six-player team plus a hole sponsorship.
Entry fees will include cart; greens fee; sack lunch provided by Champions Run and sponsored by Jack Morris Auto Glass in Memphis, Jackson, Nashville and Paducah; prizes; mulligan; team photos (cost covered by State Farm) red tee and social hour/southern style pulled-pork barbecue dinner (sponsored by State Farm).
All registrations must be in by Tuesday, April 14, event officials said. Interested players should contact Dr. Ken Hollman, holder of the Martin Chair of Insurance, by calling 615-898-2673.
The tourney schedule: lunch and registration from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m.; noon shotgun start; dinner and awards/plaques (provided by ServPro) presentation at 4:30 p.m.
There will be special awards for the longest drive from regular tees and closest to the pin on all par-3s. There’s also a putting contest (sponsored by Miller Loughry Beach Insurance Services of Murfreesboro). The first hole in one on par-3 holes No. 3 and 13 will win $10,000 in cash courtesy of Steve Ruckart, RAI, Murfreesboro, and MTSU’s Gamma Iota Sigma Insurance Fraternity.
Champions Run Director of Golf Steve Graham said the course is in “great shape — the best it has been in the last couple of years.”
Other sponsors will include Auto Glass Services and Premier Orthopaedics (beverages), both of Murfreesboro; and Judith Barrom, in memory of Jim Barrom, and State Auto Insurance Co. of Goodlettsville (cost of signs and banners).
The MTSU Foundation is sponsoring the event. For the second year, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is the title sponsor.
