Iliza Shlesinger, 2008 Reality Show Contest Winner, Brings Stand-up Act to Campus

(MURFREESBORO) – Iliza Shlesinger, winner of the 2008 “Last Comic Standing” reality show contest on NBC, will bring her brand of stand-up comedy to MTSU at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Tennessee Room of the James Union Building. This event, which is sponsored by the MTSU Variety Committee, is free and open to the public.
The Dallas native became the first female and the youngest ever winner of “Last Comic Standing” in the series’ sixth season. Shlesinger was twice selected by other comedians to compete in the head-to-head eliminations and won both times. She also hosts “The Weakly News” on TheStream.tv.
Shlesinger’s stand-up comedy resume includes performances in various Asian cities for Armed Forces Entertainment, as well as gigs at the House of Blues in Las Vegas and The Comedy Store and the The Improv in Los Angeles. Last year, she was picked to perform in the coveted New Faces showcase at the Montreal Comedy Festival—Just for Laughs.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available. For more information, contact Greg Feiling, coordinator of student programming, at 615-898-5608 or gfeiling@mtsu.edu.
