A special workshop, “Writing for Parents of Sixth- to 12th-Graders,” will offer help for those whose children with dyslexia are facing more challenging writing on Saturday, April 14, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The workshop will be held at the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia, located at 200 N. Baird Lane on the MTSU campus. It’s part of the center’s ongoing “Dyslexia Success Series.”

Organizers say the interactive class will offer parents information on the characteristics and purpose of narrative, expository and persuasive writing, which are part of the writing assessments in middle- and high-school grades.

Workshop leader Nancy Duggin will share writing prompts along with examples of each style of writing and tips leading to success with each.

The cost is $25 per person, and space is limited to 24 participants. Breakfast and take-home materials are included, and reservations are required. Visit www.mtsu.edu/dyslexia or call 615-494-8880 for more information and to register.
