MTSU Friday Student Farmers Market runs through mid-August

MURFREESBORO — The MTSU Friday Student Farmers Market will be open June 8 from noon until 3 p.m. at Horticulture Center, which is located on Lightning Way across from the Tennessee Livestock Center. Accepted forms of payment are cash and checks, but no debit or credit cards.

An assortment of vegetables (strawberries, onions, potatoes, garlic, carrots, Swiss chard, cabbage, tomatoes, zucchini squash and more), MTSU honey, potted herbs and vegetables and nursery plants (perennials and shrubs) will be available.

The produce is grown and harvested by students, faculty and staff at University’s Experiential Learning and Research Center at the MTSU Farm and Dairy off Guy James Road in Lascassas.

The Student Farmers Market will continue every Friday until mid-August. They are open both to the campus community and general public.

Because of a road closure, to reach the Horticulture Center on Lightning Way, it is best to take either Faulkinberry Drive off Middle Tennessee Boulevard or Champion Way off of Greenland Drive. To locate parking near the sale site, a printable campus map is available at www.mtsu.edu/parking/Map_2011-2012.pdf.

For more information, call the School of Agribusiness and Agriscience at 615-898-2523 or Dr. Nate Phillips at 615-494-8996.
