[208] Military training subject of upcoming 'MTSU On the Record'

MURFREESBORO — Military science and training will be the topic of the upcoming edition of “MTSU On the Record” on WMOT-FM (89.5 and wmot.org).

Host Gina Logue’s interview with Lt. Col. Joel Miller, chair of MTSU’s Department of Military Science, will air at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, and 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30.

Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree in history from Tulane University. He has served at Fort Carson, Colo.; in Bosnia; at Fort Stewart, Ga.; in Baghdad, Iraq; and in Hawaii.

Miller’s awards include the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Environmental journalism topic of ‘MTSU On the Record’

MURFREESBORO — Environmental journalism will be the topic of the upcoming edition of “MTSU On the Record” on WMOT-FM (89.5 and wmot.org).

Host Gina Logue’s interview with MTSU alumna Jessica Beard Morrison will air at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, and at 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6.

Morrison, a Lewisburg, Tenn., native, graduated from MTSU in 2007. She served a 10-week summer internship at the Chicago Tribune this year under the mentorship of the deputy editor of the newspaper’s investigative reporting and consumer watchdog team.

Topics of the scientific stories Morrison wrote for the Tribune include a national effort to identify and map the diversity of ants in the United States and the controversy over the use of substances used in dental sedation.
