MURFREESBORO —The
next Henry Ford, Ransom Olds, Ferdinand Porsche or John DeLorean might be an
MTSU student.
As part of Scholars’ Week at MTSU, the Department of
Engineering Technology’s Experimental Vehicle Program is displaying a car
designed, researched and built by students in the first floor atrium of the
James E. Walker Library.
The students who built the “Formula SAE” will be available
for a chat at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, where the car is on display.
Each project in the EVP involves students in development,
research, design, fabrication, safety considerations, business, marketing,
accounting and leadership in prototype vehicle design.
The EVP students fabricate 80 to 90 percent of vehicle
components in-house, including vehicle frame and space-age carbon fiber
composites.
There is no charge to view the car. It will remain on
exhibit at the Walker Library through Thursday, April 11, during normal library
operating hours, which are posted at www.mtsu.edu/library.
The students’ chat is free and open to the public. For more
