MURFREESBORO,
Tenn. — If there are as many
artists’ depictions of the wonders of nature as there are stars in the sky, MTSU’s Baldwin Photographic Gallery has captured a few galaxies’ worth in
its fall exhibit, “Constellation:
Fifteen Fine Art Photographers,” open through Oct. 20.
The internationally recognized artists, who hail from
California to Israel, all are represented by the Obscura Gallery in Santa Fe,
New Mexico.
Their ages, photographic styles and genres vary,
but Baldwin Gallery curator Jackie Kerns
Heigle says each “celebrates the unique qualities of the medium, often
taking from or adding to many of [photography’s] 19th- and 20th- century
processes, such as platinum/palladium, hand-colored gelatin silver, wet plate
collodion, kallitype, gum dichromate, resin printing and contemporary pigment
printing.
“The subject matter depicted includes starry skies
and wonders of nature, man and animal — a constellation of inspiring works from
exceptional artists,” adds Heigle, who also is a professor in MTSU’s Department of Media Arts.

- Cy DeCosse of
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Neil Folberg of
Jerusalem, Israel.
- Coco Fronsac of
Paris, France.
- Louviere + Vanessa (Jeff Louviere and Vanessa Brown) of New
Orleans.
- Kurt Markus of
Santa Fe.
- Norman Mauskopf of
Santa Fe.
- Beth Moon of New
York, New York.
- Jennifer
Schlesinger, owner of the Obscura Gallery.
- Aline Smithson of
Los Angeles.
- Caitlyn Soldan of
Santa Fe.
- Keith Taylor of
Minneapolis.
- Curtis Werhfritz of
Toronto, Canada.
MTSU’s Baldwin
Photographic Gallery, part of the university’s College of Media and Entertainment, is located in Room 269 on the second floor of the

Off-campus guests
visiting the Baldwin Gallery should obtain a special one-day permit from MTSU’s
Office of Parking and Transportation at http://www.mtsu.edu/parking/visit.php.
The
gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays when MTSU classes are
in session.

Heigle recently accepted the Baldwin Gallery leadership from longtime
photography professor and gallery curator Tom Jimison, who died Sept. 14.
